Labour migration: A key challenge
With hundreds of thousands of migrants risking sea journeys to find a better life elsewhere, Al Jazeera interviews Michelle Leighton, Chief of the ILO's International Migration Branch. We need to focus on creating decent work opportunities in countries of origin, Leighton says. Governments too have to consider regular channels of migration, and look at their labour markets and ensure that workers and employers are part of the dialogue in solving the problem.
